Breeding methods and precautions of Rhododendron tatarinowii

Breeding methods and precautions of Rhododendron tatarinowii

1. Soil

During the breeding period, fertile and loose soil should be used, and it should be acidic, with a pH value of around 6.0. You can mix it with leaf mold, perlite and garden soil. Don't bury it too deep when potting, just enough to cover the lower half of the root system. Remember to loosen the soil frequently in the later stage.

2. Temperature

It likes a slightly warm climate, with the most suitable temperature being around 18 degrees. When the light is too strong in summer, it should be avoided in time to prevent the high temperature from affecting the growth of the plant. Before the flowering period, the temperature should be raised to around 22 degrees to promote flowering.

3. Watering

It likes a humid environment and needs to be watered frequently during maintenance, usually once every two or three days, but be careful not to allow water to accumulate. Its growth will be slower during the high temperatures in summer and the cold temperatures in winter, and the amount and frequency of watering should be reduced to avoid root rot.

4. Fertilization

Fertilizer should be applied frequently during the maintenance period, usually once a month or so, and compound fertilizer can be used. Increase the amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers before flowering. After the flowers fade, nitrogen fertilizer should be applied, but be careful not to apply too much and not to apply it near the roots.

5. Notes

It is easy to be infected with diseases during maintenance, such as leaf swelling or leaf spot. When discovered, spray the appropriate medicine in time to control it to prevent further deterioration and affect plant growth.
