How to grow kapok in spring

How to grow kapok in spring

1. Proper pruning

During its growing season, all dead branches and leaves should be pruned away, and the overgrown branches should be topped off to stimulate the growth of side branches. The purpose of doing this is to concentrate nutrients and to increase its ornamental value.

2. Supplement nutrients

The nutrients in the soil cannot meet its normal growth needs. In early spring, it has a greater demand for fertilizer and needs appropriate increase in nutrients to grow healthily. It does not have high requirements for fertilizer, as long as the fertilizer is of moderate effectiveness and rich in phosphorus and potassium. Therefore, when choosing fertilizers, you can use a variety of natural fertilizers such as farmyard manure, fermented manure, homemade fertilizers, etc., or you can directly use phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, and the frequency of use is once every two weeks.

3. Increase watering

It likes moisture, especially in spring, so make sure the soil has enough moisture. The temperature in early spring is not high, so watering once every other day is sufficient. It is not suitable for outdoor maintenance at this time, because if there is a spring cold, the water will freeze the plants instead. When the temperature is high, you need to water it every day because the water evaporates quickly. In addition to watering the roots, you also need to spray water on its branches and leaves to ensure the air humidity.

4. Adjust the temperature

It likes warmth and is not cold-resistant, so avoid outdoor maintenance in early spring. The temperature fluctuates greatly in spring, the climate is unstable, and plants are easily frostbitten. If you maintain it indoors, just keep the temperature at 18 degrees.
