Common diseases and pests of Mars flower

Common diseases of Mars flower

Spot disease.

Disease

In the early stage of the disease, small, nearly circular, brown, water-soaked spots appear on the leaf surface, which later expand to elliptical to irregular shapes, gray-brown to gray-white, surrounded by a water-soaked light green halo. In severe cases, the spots merge and the leaves will partially dry up. In the later stage, the middle part of the lesion becomes thin paper-like, light yellow or grayish white, and easy to break, and mostly occurs on the middle and lower leaves. In hot and rainy seasons, the lesions quickly expand into large irregular spots, then burn and fall off.

Prevention and treatment methods

1. Do not crop continuously, as continuous cropping may even cause subsequent plants to be infected with spot disease.

2. For medicine, spray with 700 times diluted 75% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder.

Common Pests of Mars Flower

Spiny-footed root mite.

Disease

Adult mites overwinter in the soil, and some overwinter in stored bulb scales, with the largest number found in rotten bulb remnants. They reproduce very quickly, and at first they mostly move around the tubers to cause damage. When the bulbs rot, they gather at the rotten area to feed. The number of mites is closely related to the degree of bulb decay. It likes a high-humidity soil environment, and high temperature and drought are not conducive to its survival and reproduction.

Prevention and treatment methods

1. In hot seasons, exposing the two plants to the sun can kill most of them.

2. For medicine, you can spray 1000 times diluted 40% trichlorodicofol emulsifiable concentrate.
