How to grow fresh cut hydrangeas

How to grow fresh cut hydrangeas

1. Ensure water quality

The resistance of fresh cut hydrangea flowers will be weakened after they leave the roots, so clean water is needed to grow them. In addition, it has cuts and the water is not clean, making it more susceptible to infection. It is recommended to use purified water or mineral water for maintenance. You can also use rainwater or snow water. Do not use freshly connected tap water.

2. Ensure lighting

It likes sunshine, and sufficient light is essential during maintenance. But it should not be too much. After all, it has no roots, and too much light is not good for its growth. Usually, it is enough to ensure 3 hours of sunlight per day. Strong light cannot be tolerated and diffuse light should be used.

3. Increase watering

All nutrients of fresh cut flowers are absorbed from water, so the water must be changed frequently. In addition to changing the water, you also need to water it. The watering here certainly does not mean watering the roots, but watering the branches and leaves. When the temperature is high, water evaporates faster, so you need to water the branches and leaves once a day. When the temperature is lower, just once a day.

4. Pest and disease control

It is more susceptible to aphids, which have a great impact on its growth, not only reducing its resistance but also causing other symptoms. Therefore, if aphids are found on its branches and leaves, you should use carbendazim to eliminate the insects as soon as possible. Before use, the carbendazim needs to be diluted, and the dilution multiple should be strictly referred to the instructions.
