Can fuchsia be propagated by water cuttings?

Can fuchsia be propagated by water cuttings?

1. Is it possible?

The most common method of propagating fuchsia is cuttings in soil, but it can also grow well in hydroponics, and the method is simpler. It can take root and survive as long as it is maintained with clean water. But be aware that it is afraid of heat, so you should pay attention to temperature control during the high temperatures in summer. Once the temperature is higher than 25 degrees, it will grow slowly, gradually stop growing, and go into dormancy.

2. Water plugging method

1. Select cuttings: When taking cuttings, choose strong young branches, cut off the leaves on the lower half, leaving only the top pair, and also leave two or three buds. The length of the cuttings should be about 7 to 10 centimeters.

2. Prepare the container: prepare a transparent square container, place a few foam blocks inside, and poke a few small holes on it. The size should be slightly larger than the cuttings, and the cut ends should not be damaged when inserting.

3. Add appropriate amount of water: After preparing the container, you can add water into it. Don’t add too much water, just enough to cover one-third of the cuttings. However, make sure the water is clean, it is best to use purified water, and cover the roots after insertion, which will be more conducive to rooting.

4. Later maintenance: After rooting, change the water regularly, once a week. In addition, you can go to the flower shop to buy nutrient solution, add the appropriate amount according to the instructions, and ensure nutrients so that it can grow better.
