How to germinate old roses

How to germinate old roses

1. Promote the growth of new roots

If you want an old rose to sprout, you must first continue to take root. The old roots have limited nutrients, and they will stop growing once they are consumed. Therefore, it is necessary to remove the soil from the roots and soak them in rooting water or carbendazim. This can promote rooting and avoid various diseases and pests.

2. Fertile Soil

Roses themselves prefer fertile and loose soil, and old roses should pay more attention to this. Soil that is too sticky or too hard will result in poor root development, making it difficult for plants to take root and sprout. Generally, sandy soil with deep soil layer and good soil quality is selected.

3. Shading and heat preservation

After planting old roses, they need to be shaded for a period of time. Avoid water evaporation caused by direct sunlight and reduce the pressure on the roots to absorb water. After new shoots appear, they can be placed in a sunny place. At the same time, pay attention to heat preservation and place it at 15-20℃. Temperatures that are too high or too low will affect the rate of rooting.

4. Appropriate water and fertilizer

Watering and fertilizing is one way to speed up rooting and germination. First of all, there must be sufficient water. When the upper soil is dry, water it and keep it moist at all times. Choose well-rotted organic fertilizer for fertilization. Old piles are more resistant to fertilizer, so you can apply more.
