Can I change the soil when Clivia is blooming?

Can I change the soil when Clivia is blooming?

1. Can the soil be changed?

Clivia usually blooms in winter. It is not suitable to change the soil at this time, as it will consume a lot of nutrients and may also damage the roots, causing the flowers to wither. The plants will enter a dormant period in summer, and due to the high temperature, it is not recommended to change the soil. The soil is usually changed in spring and autumn, which is its growing season, and the plant can adapt to the pot quickly after the soil is changed.

2. How to change the soil

1. Stop watering and remove the pot: If you are ready to change the soil for the Clivia, stop watering for a few days to allow the soil to dry out. This makes it easier to remove the plant from the pot, and changing the soil will not damage the roots.

2. Preparation of potting soil: The new soil should be rich in nutrients and have good drainage. You can mix it with leaf mold, pine needles and river sand, and add a little base fertilizer.

3. Transplanting: First remove the Clivia from the pot. You can loosen the soil around the pot so that it can be easily taken out. Take it out with the soil ball still attached to the roots, then place it upright in the new pot, fill it with soil and compact it.

4. Subsequent maintenance: If the soil in the pot is moist, do not water it immediately after changing the soil. Wait for about 5 days before watering it heavily. If the soil in the pot is dry, water it thoroughly and then place it in a cool place.
