How to cultivate yellow orchid

How to cultivate yellow orchid

1. Maintenance methods

1. Substrate selection: It is not resistant to alkaline soil. It is best to choose acidic loam with good drainage and air permeability, fertility and looseness, and rich in humus. Before planting, apply enough base fertilizer and cover with a thin layer of fine soil.

2. Light management: It is a positive plant and prefers an environment with sufficient light. Giving it sufficient sunlight can make the plant flourish and have rich fragrance. It can be exposed to the sun often, but when the sun is strong in summer, it should be properly shaded.

3. Water management: Spring is its vigorous growth period. At this time, more water should be given and irrigation should be strengthened. It should be watered thoroughly twice a month. Watering can be done depending on the situation. In summer, you should water more often, once in the morning and once in the evening, and you can also spray water on the leaves appropriately. Watering should be reduced in autumn and on cloudy days. In winter, watering is generally not required. If the soil in the pot is too dry, you can water it once appropriately.

4. Temperature management: It is sensitive to temperature and is not cold-resistant. It will bloom earlier in a higher temperature environment. If the temperature is too high in summer, appropriate cooling measures should be taken. If the temperature is below 20℃ in winter, warming and cold-proof measures should be taken in time. The wintering temperature should be controlled above 5℃.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Pruning method: Its branches have poor healing ability, so drastic pruning is not suitable. You only need to prune the branches that are too dense, too long, too crossed, or dry and diseased. It is best to prune after the flowers fade and before the leaf buds sprout to maintain the elegant and beautiful shape of the tree.

2. Flower-promoting methods: If you want to enjoy flowers during the Spring Festival or New Year's Day, you can move the potted plants into a low-temperature greenhouse forty to fifty days in advance to wake the plants from dormancy. After about a month, move them to a high-temperature room and maintain the air humidity above 60%.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Pests: Its main pests are scale insects. Once pests are found, a small amount can be removed manually, while a large amount requires the use of pesticides. Good drainage and ventilation should be maintained to prevent and control diseases and pests.

2. Root rot: Attention should be paid to drainage and waterlogging prevention. When applying base fertilizer, be sure to cover it with a layer of fine soil to separate the organic fertilizer from the root system of the plant to prevent root rot caused by fertilizer damage.

IV. Other issues

1. Placement: Its flowers are fragrant, beautiful and elegant in shape, and have high ornamental value. Potted plants can be planted indoors.

2. Toxicity: It is non-toxic. The flowers can be used as medicine or to make tea, and the flowers and leaves can be used to make spices.
