How to cultivate bamboo

How to cultivate bamboo

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: It likes mild temperature. The normal growth temperature is between 20 and 30 degrees. It is not very cold-resistant. If the temperature is lower than five degrees, it is easy to be frostbite. Therefore, the ambient temperature in winter must be kept above five degrees so that it can survive the winter normally.

2. Watering: Maintain alternating dry and wet conditions. If the soil is too dry, the plant will grow poorly. If there is a lack of water, the plant may wither and die. However, stagnant water will also cause root rot and leaf rot, and will seriously affect the growth of the plant. It is relatively drought-resistant, and will not have any impact if it is not watered for a short period of time, but it cannot be too long.

3. Light: It is shade-tolerant, so it cannot accept strong light. Strong light can easily cause the plant to wither, and the color will also change. It will not be as green as before. Usually it is enough to let it accept scattered light. It is best to place it in a hidden place in summer.

4. Fertilization: Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers need to be applied during the growth period to supplement the nutrients needed for growth. At the same time, the application of phosphorus fertilizers should be stopped after autumn, and potassium fertilizers should be mainly applied. Fertilization should be stopped in winter so that the plant can survive the winter normally and will not be affected.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: Sowing and division are two important methods of reproduction. Sowing is carried out in April every year. The temperature for seed germination is between 22 and 26 degrees. Just keep the soil moist. Division is also done in April, when repotting. Separate the small plants around the mother plant and replant them.

2. Pruning: During the growth period, some side branches and overgrown branches and leaves need to be cut off. Of course, in order to improve the ornamental value, you can cut the plant into your favorite shape.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Disease: Gray mold may occur, which will affect the color of the plant and its ornamental value. It can be controlled and prevented by using carbendazim solution.

2. Pests: Scale insects will appear. You can cut off the branches and leaves with pests, or use omethoate solution to eliminate them.

IV. Other issues

1. Toxicity: It is non-toxic. Although it has certain medicinal value, it should not be taken without authorization to avoid discomfort.

2. Can it be raised at home? Yes, the ornamental value of Bamboo shoots is very high and its meaning is also very good.
