How to grow potted Rhododendron

1. Potting soil

Before potting the Rhododendron damascena, you must first choose a suitable flowerpot and soil. It is a bulbous plant and has requirements for air permeability. The flowerpot should be made of a material with good air permeability and have drainage holes at the bottom to facilitate water discharge. The soil should be loose and fertile, and deep sandy loam should be selected, which contains certain nutrients.

2. Sunlight

It has certain requirements for sunlight during its growth. It needs normal supplementary sunlight and does not need shading. Especially during the growth period, it needs to maintain more than 6 hours of light a day to maintain normal growth.

3. Water

During the breeding process, water should be given regularly and it should not be short of water, but it does not like a water-logged environment, so the water needs to be controlled and not applied excessively, otherwise the roots will rot and affect future growth. The surrounding humidity should also be maintained well and kept dry.

4. Pests and diseases

During the maintenance process, we must also pay attention to the prevention and control of diseases and pests, with prevention being the main approach. The bulbs should be disinfected before planting, and active treatment should be given if any pests appear.

5. Hibernation

It has a dormant period and blooms from June to July. The branches and leaves above the ground will die in September, and the bulbs will enter a dormant period. At this time, the bulbs can be stored well and planted again in the spring of next year.
