1. Breeding methods

1. Pot soil: The diameter of the flowerpot used for growing pitaya should be large, preferably more than 40 cm, and it must also ensure good air permeability. The soil must also be clean and breathable, and you can buy special soil at the flower market.

2. Sunlight: It is a plant that likes sunlight. It should be placed in a sunny place in the pot for maintenance and given sufficient sunlight. If the light in the growing environment is poor, the plant will not bloom or bear fruit.

3. Watering: If you want it to grow better, you need to water it in time after the soil is dry, but don’t water it too much. Water less during the seedling stage, when it rains and in winter, and just keep the soil slightly moist at other times.

2. Precautions

If you want to achieve better results, it is best to carry out artificial assisted pollination. The time should be chosen well. It can be done in the morning or after work, and the pollen on the male flowers can be transferred to the stigma of the female flowers.

3. Pruning method

When the pitaya grows to be almost as tall as a concrete pillar, it needs to be topped off to remove the apical dominance of the plant, which will encourage it to grow more branches. In March, you can remove the young shoots so that the nutrients will be stored in the old branches, which is conducive to flowering. When pruning mature trees, it is usually enough to cut off some old and dead branches.
