How to cultivate the cycad

How to cultivate the cycad

The Opuntia scabra, also known as the Overlord Whip and the Three-edged Arrow, is a plant of the cactus family. It grows very sturdy, and some can grow to one or two meters tall. It looks very domineering and is loved by many friends. Below, the editor will introduce the cultivation method of Ophiopogon japonicus, let’s take a look.

1. Breeding environment

Oxytropis prefers a warm and humid growing environment, and the sunlight should not be too strong. Therefore, when the sunlight is strong, try to grow it in a semi-shaded environment. If the weather is cold, it needs to be placed in a sunny place. The average temperature should be above 10 degrees Celsius to avoid frost damage to Oxytropis due to low temperature.

2. Soil selection

Ostrea kirilowii likes sandy loam that is rich in humus and has good water permeability, so you can add some leaf mold and coarse sand to the soil where you plant Ostrea kirilowii, or you can use a mixture of leaf mold and wood ash for cultivation. During this period, try to choose organic fertilizers for fertilization and place the fertilizers around the plants, which will be more conducive to the absorption of fertilizers by the Ophiopogon japonicus and promote its growth.

3. Watering management

The octagonal plant is relatively drought-resistant. Do not water it too much in spring. Water it every 10 or 15 days. In the hot summer, it needs to be watered once every morning or evening. In winter, the soil in the pot should be kept moderately dry as much as possible. You can wrap the potting soil with plastic film to keep it warm.

4. Timely pruning

After picking the flowers of the Osmanthus fragrans, it is necessary to cut off the dense branches and old branches that have bloomed. This will allow the new branches below to fully receive sunlight and improve ventilation conditions, promoting the next flowering.

5. Fertilization management

The fertilizer requirements of the Ophiopogon japonicus are not high. Apply decomposed liquid fertilizer once every 15 to 20 days during the growth period, and stop fertilizing in winter. Do not apply too much fertilizer, otherwise it will easily lead to root rot.

6. Notes

The Osmanthus fragrans is mostly propagated by cuttings, and it is prone to wilt, anthracnose, scab, etc. during the growth process. It is necessary to pay attention to its growth conditions in time so that it can be dealt with as soon as possible. When scab disease first occurs, use a knife to dig out the scab spots, and then apply 50-100 times diluted 40% carbendazim·triadimefon or 45% triadimefon.

The above is the cultivation method of Oxyphylla. Oxyphylla needs to be repotted every 1 to 2 years. When repotting, you need to choose one that is proportional to the size of the plant. Before repotting, you need to take out the Oxyphylla and let it dry for half a month before putting it back into the pot.
