How to safely overwinter Dendrobium officinale? Will Dendrobium officinale be frozen to death?

How to safely overwinter Dendrobium officinale? Will Dendrobium officinale be frozen to death?

1. How to safely survive the winter

1. Ensure the temperature: Dendrobium officinale does not like the cold, so when caring for it in winter, you must pay attention to the temperature. The minimum temperature must be kept above 0 degrees Celsius, and try to keep it above 10 degrees Celsius to ensure safe wintering. Although the climate in the north is cold, there are heating equipment, so there is basically no problem in moving it indoors.

2. Reduce shading: Dendrobium officinale does not like strong light, but the sunlight in winter is not that strong, so there is no need to shade it too much. It can be reduced to 20%. Exposing it to more sunlight can also increase its temperature.

3. Reduce watering: Dendrobium officinale will enter a dormant period in winter, during which time its growth is very slow and its demand for water decreases, so it is not recommended to water it too much. Once too much water is given, it will become difficult for the roots to absorb and cause root rot. Therefore, you can just wait until the soil is dry and add water appropriately to meet its water needs.

2. Will I freeze to death?

Dendrobium officinale cannot grow in a low temperature environment. If the temperature is below 5 degrees Celsius, it may be frostbitten. If it is below 0 degrees Celsius for a long time, it may be frozen to death, so be sure to keep warm.
