Breeding techniques of the lotus lantern

The lotus lantern is a very popular flower . It is a kind of rich flower with broad leaves and large flowers that bloom upside down. It is exquisite, beautiful and has good meaning and high ornamental value. Here are some tips on growing the lotus lantern.

1. Pot soil selection

When choosing a pot, you must remember that the Chinese lantern is not suitable for growing in a large pot. Choose a small pot as much as possible. It can be grown in a very small pot, and the diameter is generally no higher than 20 cm. Choose a short pot or a small pot as much as possible. When preparing the soil, you should choose one with good air permeability. You can mix peat soil, perlite and vermiculite in a 1:1 ratio, or you can add ordinary river sand to the soil.

2. Light temperature

The Lotus Lantern does not require much light. It likes to grow under sufficient and soft light. The best growth temperature is between 18 and 26 degrees. If the temperature is too high or too low, the growth of the plant will be affected. For daily maintenance, provide sufficient scattered light to make the leaves dark green and shiny. When the temperature reaches above 27 degrees in summer, provide shade and increase ventilation. After entering winter, the temperature drops rapidly. It is better to keep the room temperature above 10 degrees. Once it drops below 5 degrees, the lotus lantern will be frostbitten or withered.

3. Watering requirements

The cardinal lantern likes moisture but is afraid of waterlogging. It is not good for flowering if the soil in the pot is too dry or too wet. It has high requirements for air humidity. If the air is too dry, the leaves will lose their luster. Water the potting soil in spring and autumn to keep it dry and moist. In the hot summer, the water evaporates rapidly, so you can water more often but avoid waterlogging. Keep the soil in the pot slightly moist in winter. When the soil is dry, you can water it with dried tap water at noon.

4. Fertilization matters

If you want the cardinal lantern to grow well and bloom beautifully, fertilization is essential. From spring to autumn, you can use a balanced compound fertilizer of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium to irrigate it once every half a month. When it comes to flowering, apply compound fertilizer that is high in phosphorus and potassium and has sufficient other elements, once every 10 days, usually three times. It is conducive to the beautiful flowering of the lotus lantern. Be careful when fertilizing the cardinal lantern. It does not like concentrated or raw fertilizers. It is better to use a lighter fertilizer each time to prevent concentrated or raw fertilizers from causing fertilizer damage to the root system and causing root rot.

5. Air humidity

The air humidity of the Lotus lantern needs to be increased because it likes humid air. It can be kept in a ventilated environment and sprayed with water regularly 2 to 3 times. Adjust the spray of the spray bottle to the minimum and use the finest spray to spray the entire leaf, attaching tiny water droplets. This will have the effect of increasing the air humidity. The leaves of the Medusa tetrapod are very shiny and have a waxy layer. They are very good at filtering water and there will be no problem of leaves rotting due to spraying water.

6. Regular pruning

The cardinal tetrapod is a flower that is very resistant to pruning. Regularly pruning the branches that are not growing well can better promote the growth of new buds and the plant will absorb better. If it is not pruned for a long time, it will grow in a messy way and will not look good at all.
