Symptoms and treatment of pig diseases

Various diseases often occur during pig farming, especially in autumn and winter, when the temperature gradually drops, the overall climate and temperature environment is more complex, and pig diseases are prevalent. Let’s learn about the symptoms and treatment of pig diseases.

1. Toxoplasmosis

Symptoms: Body temperature rises to 40.5℃~42℃, with symptoms of dyspnea, abdominal breathing, cough, runny nose, muscle pain and stiffness in the limbs and whole body, and a large area of ​​purple-red under the skin of the abdomen. Swollen lymph nodes on the body surface.

Treatment method: 10 ml of sulfa-6-methylpyrimidine and 4-12 mg of dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection, mixed and injected intramuscularly once. Take twice a day for 5 to 7 consecutive days.

2. Swine Flu

Symptoms: Pigs cough, sneeze, tear, have mucus, weak limbs, red conjunctiva, sticky secretions adhering to the corners of the eyes; lack of energy, drowsiness and other cold symptoms.

Treatment method: Mix Astragalus polysaccharide injection (0.2mL/kg) + ceftiofur sodium or florfenicol (0.05~0.1g/kg) + Bupleurum injection (0.1mL/kg) evenly and inject into the back of the neck, 1 dose/d for 3 consecutive days.

3. Swine Streptococcus disease

Symptoms: The body temperature of sick pigs rises to above 41°C, and some sick pigs develop arthritis, lameness, crawling or inability to stand. Some sick pigs showed neurological symptoms such as ataxia and open-mouth bruxism.

Treatment method: Intramuscular injection of high-strength amoxicillin 15 mg per kilogram of body weight and 2.5 mg of 2.5% enrofloxacin injection, once a day for 3 consecutive days.

4. Yellow diarrhea in piglets

Symptoms: Diarrhea in piglets with yellow, yellow-gray or white loose feces. It is characterized by rapid onset, rapid weight loss, strong infectiousness, and high mortality if not treated in time.

Treatment method: After the piglets are born, the whole litter should be given oral antibiotics for 3 consecutive days to prevent the disease. The whole blood or serum of the sows eliminated from the farm can also be given orally or by injection to the newborn piglets for prevention, which has a certain preventive effect.

5. Mycoplasma pneumonia in pigs

Symptoms: Commonly known as swine asthma, it is a chronic respiratory infectious disease of pigs caused by Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae.

Treatment method: Inject florfenicol injection + doxycycline injection on one side and aminophylline injection on the other side.

6. Swine Streptococcal Arthritis

Symptoms: Multiple arthritis, muscle swelling and pain around one or more joints, lameness, difficulty standing, paralysis of the hind limbs and inability to get up from the ground. There is a sense of fluctuation in the local joints when palpated, and a few become hardened and have thickened skin.

Treatment method: Inject enrofloxacin injection + ceftriaxone sodium on one side and sulfamethoxazole injection on the other side.

7. Eperythrozoonosis

Symptoms: Decreased production performance of sows, deterioration of piglet physique, anemia, and increased intestinal and respiratory tract infections. At the beginning of the disease, fattening pigs become listless, with body temperature rising to 39.5℃-42℃, and they shiver and walk in circles or are unwilling to stand.

Treatment method: In the early stage of the disease in pigs, use Bernier (Bloodworm Net) at a dose of 5-7 mg per kilogram of body weight, dilute it with normal saline to make a 5% solution, and inject it deep into the muscle. Repeat the medication once every 48 hours for 2-3 days. Or use triazolam (7 mg/kg.bw), and then use sterile normal saline to prepare a 5% injection solution, once a day for 3 days.
