1. Planting time

When planting Clivia seeds, try to choose the warm spring and summer time. In the south, it can be done in March, while in the north it can be done later, around April. However, the climate in each region is different, so the specific time will also vary, as long as the temperature is not particularly low.

2. Planting Method

1. Seed selection: Wait until the color of the peel turns black and purple, cut it off, and then wait for about half a month to remove the seeds. Fresh, plump seeds are the first choice for planting, as the germination rate of such seeds is relatively high.

2. Germination: Put the selected seeds into 30° warm water and soak them for about half an hour. After taking them out, soak them in nutrient solution for another half an hour to make them easier to germinate.

3. Substrate: Before planting, prepare a slightly acidic substrate with good air permeability. Put it in the pot after disinfection, soak it in water and level it.

3. Sowing: Sow the seeds into the substrate with the holes facing downward, and then cover with 2-3 cm of soil. After sowing, water it thoroughly and place it in a ventilated place.

4. Germination: After the seeds germinate, when the first leaf grows to about five centimeters, we can directly transplant it into nutritious soil for maintenance. When transplanting, the soil must be sterilized, which is basically not difficult.

3. Daily maintenance of Clivia

1. Light: Clivia likes sufficient scattered light, but avoids direct sunlight. During the high temperatures in summer, Clivia should be placed in a well-ventilated, shaded place to avoid direct sunlight. In spring, autumn and winter, you can place the Clivia in a bright place indoors to ensure sufficient light.

2. Water: Clivia likes a humid environment, but is not resistant to water. When watering, be sure to keep the soil moist, but do not allow water to accumulate. When the temperature is high in summer, the frequency of watering can be increased appropriately; in spring, autumn and winter, the amount of watering should be controlled to avoid root rot. In addition, Clivia likes a high humidity environment. You can place some basins of water or wet towels around the pots to increase the air humidity.

3. Temperature: Clivia can adapt to a wide range of temperatures and can generally grow normally between 15-30℃. But in winter, be sure to keep the indoor temperature above 10℃ to prevent the Clivia from freezing.

4. Fertilizer : Clivia needs sufficient nutrients during its growth period. In spring and autumn, decomposed organic fertilizer can be applied once every half a month; in summer and winter, the frequency of fertilization can be appropriately reduced. Be careful not to over-fertilize to avoid burning the roots.

5. Pruning: Clivia grows fast and needs regular pruning. In spring and autumn, you can prune the yellow leaves to keep the plant neat and beautiful. After flowering, the flower stems can be cut back to encourage the plant to continue flowering.

6. Repotting and changing the soil: After Clivia has grown for 2-3 years, its root system will gradually expand and it will need to be repotted and the soil changed. It is generally more appropriate to change the soil in spring. When changing the soil, choose soil with good drainage, such as leaf mold, perlite , etc. At the same time, pay attention to protecting the root system to avoid damage.

7. Pest and disease control: Clivia is relatively resistant to pests and diseases, but is prone to diseases in high temperature and humid environments. Check the plants regularly and deal with any signs of disease or pests promptly. Wood ash, sulfur powder, etc. can be used for prevention and control.
