How to grow lavender, lavender planting method introduction

1. Planting time

Lavender grows best in a warm environment, so it is mostly planted in spring and autumn. The temperature in summer is too high and the strong light can easily cause the seedlings to suffer from sunscald, while the winter is too cold and the low temperature inhibits the development of seeds. If you want to plant in these two seasons, you must control the temperature. If the temperature is between 15-30℃, it can grow normally after planting.

2. How to germinate

In order to ensure that lavender seeds can germinate, they usually need to be germinated before sowing. Soak the seeds in clean water. After 1-2 days, take them out and place them on a wet paper towel. Cover them with plastic wrap and poke a few small holes on it for ventilation. Place it in a cool place and wait for it to take root. Once small white roots grow, you can start sowing. If the seeds are not germinated, it may take a month for them to take root and germinate.

3. Pot soil preparation

Lavender is suitable for growing in loose and fertile sandy loam. It can be prepared with garden soil, peat and sandy soil and mixed evenly in a ratio of 5:3:2. In addition, you can also add an appropriate amount of basal fertilizer to provide nutrients for plant growth. It is not advisable to use too sticky soil for planting, otherwise it will affect the breathing of the roots.

4. Planting

First, spread large-granular substrate at the bottom of the flowerpot, then fill it with the prepared soil, place the seeds in the middle, and cover them with fine soil. After planting, water it a little to maintain the humidity of the environment. At the same time, avoid exposure to sunlight to prevent moisture from being lost too quickly. After it grows true leaves, it can be exposed to light and supplemented with fertilizer.
