Planting and management methods of honeysuckle

Planting and management methods of honeysuckle

1. How to plant honeysuckle

Planting time: Honeysuckle can generally be planted from March to May in spring and from September to October in autumn. The climate for planting honeysuckle in spring and autumn is more suitable, which can promote seed germination and relatively increase the survival rate of seeds.

Prepare potting soil: When planting honeysuckle, you need to prepare suitable potting soil. You can choose a flowerpot with good air permeability, and the soil must be loose, fertile, and deep sandy loam. It can be mixed with river sand, garden soil, humus soil, etc. in a ratio of 4:3:2, or you can directly buy nutrient soil

Seed germination: In order to promote seed germination, the seeds need to be germinated. Soak the seeds in warm water at about 40 degrees for about a day, and pick out the shriveled seeds. Wait until the seeds crack, take them out, and place them in moist sand or a wet towel. Spray water once a day to keep it moist and maintain a suitable temperature. Generally, it can be planted after two or three days.

Planting in pots: Sow the processed seeds directly and evenly in the prepared soil, and then sprinkle a thin layer of soil on the seeds. After planting, you can sprinkle some water on the surface of the potting soil to keep it moist. Generally, it takes seven to ten days for the seeds to grow into seedlings.

2. Management methods of honeysuckle

After planting honeysuckle, keep it in a well-ventilated, semi-shaded place. When the honeysuckle just starts to grow, you should reduce watering appropriately and do not allow water to accumulate in the potting soil, otherwise it will easily cause the plant to wither. After it has grown for two months, you can fertilize it. Mixing organic fertilizer and nitrogen fertilizer together can increase the growth rate of the plant. After that, you only need to apply organic fertilizer, but you can also decide whether to apply other fertilizers based on the specific growth conditions of the plant.
