Succulents' water requirements

Succulents' water requirements

1. Succulents like dryness

For most succulents, they prefer dry conditions. They would rather be dry than wet during normal growth. They are relatively drought-resistant, and not watering them for a short period of time will not affect their growth temporarily. However, this does not mean that they should not be watered all the time. If they remain dry and lack water for a long time, it will affect the growth rate. It cannot tolerate a watery environment. Once there is too much watering and water accumulation, it may cause the roots to rot and the growth of the entire plant will be affected.

2. Watering frequency

1. Seasonal influence: The temperature is suitable in spring and autumn, and water should be poured every 5-7 days to provide sufficient water for the normal growth of succulents. The temperature is relatively high in summer and the demand for water is increasing. You can water it every 1-2 days to ensure vigorous growth. Succulent plants will hibernate in winter, grow very slowly, and require less water, so they can be watered once every half a month.

2. Influence of growth period: The frequency of watering is different in different growth periods. The seedling stage does not require much water, and watering once a week is enough. Some branches in the old stage are semi-lignified, and can be watered once or twice a month.

3. Treatment of accumulated water

Succulent plants are afraid of stagnant water, which may cause root rot. You need to take out the plants, cut off the rotten roots, and then prepare new soil and replant them.
