How to grow Oxalis

How to grow Oxalis

1. Prepare the Seedbed

Oxalis prefers soil with good drainage. Do not use clay when planting, otherwise it will be detrimental to germination and later growth. Use sandy soil mixed with an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer to make the seedbed, which will not easily accumulate water and will have sufficient nutrients, which is beneficial to growth.

2. Sowing seeds into the soil

Once the seedbed is prepared you can start sowing. Its seeds are very small. When sowing, you can use a toothpick to dip in water and then dip the seeds and place them on the soil. Be careful to leave a certain distance. Too dense a distance will be detrimental to the growth of the seedlings.

3. Post-planting maintenance

Water should be applied promptly after sowing, but be careful not to use too much water, just enough to keep the surface soil moist. Then cover it with a layer of film, which can not only retain moisture but also keep warm, which is beneficial for germination. After processing, place it in a warm place with the temperature maintained between 15-25 degrees. Seedlings will grow in about two weeks. The small surface can be transplanted after its growth is stable.

4. Transplanting Method

When transplanting seedlings, be careful not to damage the root system, especially the newly grown roots, otherwise it will affect survival. When planting, pay attention to the spacing between the seedlings. It is best to keep them at least 15 centimeters apart. If they are too dense, they will easily compete for nutrients in the later stage, which is not conducive to their growth and flowering.

5. Notes

Pay attention to the watering method during the later management. Do not flood the plant every time. It is recommended to spray water to ensure that the soil is always moist. Water must not accumulate. During the peak growing season, it is necessary to apply fertilizer in time to ensure sufficient nutrients so that the plant can grow vigorously and bloom normally.
