What to do if the sunflower leaves turn yellow

What to do if the sunflower leaves turn yellow

The symptoms and causes of yellowing leaves of potted sunflowers at home are different. Only by prescribing the right medicine according to the situation can the disease be cured.

Water yellow

The new leaves of the sunflower plant are dark yellow and dull, the branches are thin and yellow-green, and the growth is slow, but the old leaves have no obvious changes, indicating that it is watered too much. At this time, you should control watering, remove the plant from the pot, place it in a cool place to dry, and then replant it. Be careful not to damage the soil around the roots when removing the plant from the pot.

Phellodendron chinense

If the plant turns yellow due to lack of water, the leaf tips and the bottoms of the leaves will dry up first, and the plant will turn yellow from the bottom to the top, but the new leaves will grow normally. It’s easy to solve, just water it! However, do not water too much at one time, just make sure it is watered thoroughly and the soil is moist.

Lack of light yellow

Many plants will suffer leaf burns due to excessive light. But sunflowers are different, they need plenty of sunlight during their growth period. If placed in a shaded environment for a long time, the leaves will not see the light and the entire plant will turn yellow and fall off. Place the plant in the sun. If there is a lack of light, use fluorescent lamps to supplement the light.

Fat Yellow

Sunflowers have a well-developed root system that can penetrate deep into the soil to absorb nutrients, so they do not require concentrated fertilizers. Excessive fertilization or excessive concentration of fertilizer will cause yellowing of leaves. Usually the leaves of the plant are dull and uneven, and the old leaves fall off. At this time, stop fertilizing immediately and water appropriately to flush out the soil fertility. The most effective way is to sprinkle some radish and cabbage seeds around the plants and allow them to absorb nutrients from the soil.

Lack of fertilizer and yellow

Lack of fertilizer means that the plant is hungry, which is manifested by large seedlings in a small pot, dense fibrous roots in the pot, and dark yellow flowers and leaves. At this time, you need to change to a larger pot, cut off the old leaves of the plant, and replace the soil in time if the soil is dry. Usually pay attention to the frequent application of thin fertilizers, and you can water some alum water in moderation.
