What to do if the leaves of Chlorophytum become soft

What to do if the leaves of Chlorophytum become soft

Lack of water

Generally speaking, the leaves of spider plants become soft because of lack of water. There are two main manifestations of water shortage: one is soil water shortage, and the other is air being too dry. Therefore, when growing spider plants, watering should be supplemented from two aspects.

The first thing is to water the plants sufficiently and keep the soil from drying out. Secondly, it is necessary to maintain a high air humidity. The air humidity cannot be too dry when growing spider plants. If it is too dry, the leaves will easily burn, become soft, or even break. At this time, you need to spray the leaves with water frequently to keep them moist.

Root rot

In fact, the cause of the spider plant's leaves becoming soft may be root rot.

There are actually many reasons that cause spider plant root rot. The most common one is improper watering. Too much watering causes the soil to be too moist or even have water accumulation, making it difficult for the roots to breathe, resulting in root rot. Once the roots begin to rot, the plant will look listless and its leaves will become limp.

When growing spider plants, you must pay attention to their growth conditions to avoid root rot. Especially when it comes to watering, although spider plants prefer moisture, they will easily rot if there is too much water.

If you find that the spider plant has root rot, you must take timely measures to minimize the damage. The spider plant can still recover.
