What to do if the lemon tree leaves turn yellow

What to do if the lemon tree leaves turn yellow

1. Lower the temperature

Reason: Lemon cannot tolerate high temperatures. Too high a temperature will cause it to grow poorly, causing the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Lemon trees grow best in an environment of 10-15℃. Since they require a certain amount of light, they cannot be placed in the shade for a long time. You can spray water on the leaves to cool them down through evaporation.

2. Water in time

Reason: Lemon needs sufficient water during its growth process. Lack of water can easily cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Rehydrate the lemon promptly. Water every 2-3 days, usually in the early morning, which is more conducive to absorption. The amount of water should not be too much to avoid water accumulation. It is fine as long as the soil in the pot is moist.

3. Supplement fertilizer

Reason: Many nutrient deficiencies can cause lemon leaves to turn yellow, such as iron and nitrogen deficiency.

Solution: Iron deficiency often causes the lemon's mesophyll to turn yellow, so a certain amount of ferrous sulfate needs to be added when watering. In addition to supplementing iron, it can also increase soil acidity, which is more conducive to growth. Nitrogen deficiency will cause its leaf veins to turn yellow. When applying fertilizer, you should choose a compound fertilizer with a balanced nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content. Do not apply only nitrogen fertilizer to prevent it from growing too tall.

4. Proper shading

Reason: Lemon trees need light to grow, but strong direct sunlight can be detrimental to them and cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Lemon trees need shade during the summer midday hours. If it is a potted plant, you can also put it in semi-shade to receive a certain amount of scattered light. The shade should not be too long, otherwise it will affect its flowering and fruiting.
