What to do if the leaves of the fortune tree droop and turn yellow

1. Drainage and root pruning

Reason: If you water the money tree too much, the accumulated water in the potting soil will affect the breathing of the roots, causing them to rot, causing the leaves to droop and turn yellow.

Solution: Drain the accumulated water in the flower pot as soon as possible. Carefully remove the plant from the pot and cut off any rotten roots with scissors. Afterwards, you can apply a little wood ash on the wound and replant it with dry new soil. Pay attention to controlling the amount of water during daily watering. Do not water too much to avoid water accumulation.

2. Light supplement pruning

Reason: The money tree can grow in semi-shade, but long-term lack of light will affect its development and cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Place the money tree in a place with diffuse light. Do not expose it directly to the sun, as this will cause the leaves to lose water due to high temperature, which is not conducive to its growth. If the branches and leaves are too dense, it will affect the ventilation and light transmission inside, so you can trim them appropriately.

3. Appropriate fertilization

Reason: The growth of the money tree is inseparable from various nutrients. If the soil fertility is insufficient and fertilizer is not applied in time, its leaves will turn yellow and droop.

Solution: The money tree needs to be fertilized adequately during its growing period. It is advisable to use a compound liquid fertilizer with a balanced content of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, and spray it once a week. You can also apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers every month, but it is not advisable to apply nitrogen fertilizer exclusively to avoid excessive plant growth.

4. Lower the temperature

Reason: The money tree is not suitable for growing in a high temperature environment. If the temperature is above 35℃ for a long time, its leaves will droop and turn yellow.

Solution: Place the money tree in a cool and ventilated environment. You can spray some water on the leaves to cool them down by absorbing heat through evaporation.
