How to cut branches of Kalanchoe

How to plant longevity flowers

1. Time for cuttings

It is best to do branch cuttings of Kalanchoe in summer and autumn, when the branches and buds of Kalanchoe are lush.

2. Materials for cuttings

Choose healthy and harmless mother plants to cut branches as cuttings;

When cutting cuttings from the mother plant, make the cut about 1 cm above the axillary buds.

After cutting, do not plant cuttings immediately, but also process the cuttings:

Soak the cuttings in clean water for about an hour, then take out the cuttings and place them in a ventilated place to dry. Wait until they are dry before you can start grafting.

3. Selection of cutting medium

When choosing a cutting medium, you can use mud, nutrient soil, sand and other substrates. Be careful to keep the substrate moist.

4. Take cuttings

Once you are ready, you can directly insert the cuttings into the substrate, and then bury the soil to 1/3 of the branch.

Maintenance of Kalanchoe cuttings

First of all, after the branch cuttings are completed, be sure to spray the nutrient solution on the branches on time and in the right amount. This will help the growth of the cuttings. The nutrient solution can be a mixture of 0-2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate and sucrose.

The spraying period is basically after 3 to 4 weeks, and spray once every month.

The second is watering: for the branch cuttings of Kalanchoe, because the plant itself contains a high amount of water, do not water it frequently to avoid causing the branches to rot and stop growing. Watering only needs to be done once every 3 days.

Finally, pay attention to cold protection and heat preservation: because the branches of the branch cuttings have few leaves, you must pay attention to heat preservation. They should be placed in a place with good light and suitable temperature for maintenance.
