Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of umbrella flowers

Causes and treatments for yellow leaves of umbrella flowers

1. The temperature is too low

Reason: Umbrella flower is a plant that originally grows in subtropical regions and is not cold-resistant, so it has relatively high temperature requirements. It needs to be maintained in an environment between 20-28 degrees Celsius. Therefore, if the temperature in winter is lower than 8 degrees and it is not kept warm, the leaves may turn yellow due to frostbite.

Measures: It is best to move it to a greenhouse for maintenance. If it is maintained indoors, the temperature needs to be higher than eight degrees to ensure that its growth conditions are met, so that the yellow leaves will slowly turn green.

2. Insufficient light

Reason: Umbrella flowers prefer light and need to be kept in a place with good light. Especially during the growing season, it needs sufficient sunlight. If the maintenance environment is dark and there is insufficient light, it will be detrimental to its growth, and the plant's branches and leaves will turn yellow due to lack of light.

Measures: It is best to move it to a place with better light outdoors so that it can receive sufficient sunlight. However, when the midday sun is too strong in summer, you should also pay attention to providing it with shade. When the temperature is lower in winter, you can place it in a sunny location indoors for maintenance.

3. Lack of water

Reason: Umbrella flowers prefer moisture and have a high demand for water. Especially in summer, the frequency and amount of watering should be increased accordingly. If there is not enough water during the growing period and the plant's water needs cannot be met, both new and old leaves will turn yellow.

Measures: It is necessary to gradually increase the frequency and amount of watering to keep the substrate moist. During general maintenance, you can water it every two or three days. In summer, you can water it once a day, but in winter, you should reduce watering and water it according to the dryness or wetness of the substrate. You can water it once every five or six days.

4. Unsuitable soil

Reason: The soil suitable for the growth of umbrella flowers should be loose and relatively fertile. If the soil is compacted and sticky, it will be detrimental to the root breathing and nutrient absorption, and will slowly cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Measures: The soil needs to be replaced with loose and fertile sandy loam as soon as possible to meet its growth conditions, so that it can recover as soon as possible.
