Hydrangea Pest Control

Hydrangea Pest Control

Elderberry Aphid

disease

This pest mainly lives on new branches and feeds on sap. This causes the leaves to become smaller and curled up.

Prevention and treatment methods

When a small number of aphids are found, the insects can be scraped off with a bamboo stick. Then spray 1000~2000 times omethoate solution.

If the insect infestation is more serious, remove the severely withered leaves and spray them with nicotine or DDT emulsifiable concentrate.

Bat Moth

disease

The body of the bat moth is dark brown or yellowish brown, with edge-shaped spots on the edges of the forewings. The larvae mainly overwinter in tree trunks and hatch into adults in June. The bat moth mainly attacks the stems of hydrangeas, spinning silk to weave a web to conceal its body. The leaves it removes will form a sac-like bag that continues to expand. The bat moth is mainly active at night, chewing leaves, and the plants will soon die.

Prevention and treatment methods

Clean up dead leaves in time to avoid creating a good habitat for the larvae.

In late June, spray 1000 times diluted dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane or zinc disulfide on the soil surface to kill the hatched larvae.

When insect infestation occurs, you can inject 200 times 80% DDT into the trunk of the plant, or you can bury a small amount of chlorpyrifos around the plant.

Brown Soft Scale

disease

The insects mainly suck fresh sap, causing flowers and leaves to fall off.

Prevention and treatment methods

Once you find an insect, scrub it with a brush or burlap, and dispose of the insect body underneath the brush.

Prune in time, cut off branches and leaves with insects, and burn them in a concentrated area.

During the peak period of pests and diseases, spray 1500 times dilution of imidacloprid emulsifiable concentrate for inspection and killing. When spraying, pay attention to both sides of the branches to increase the insecticide rate.
