What kind of insects are prone to lavender? How to deal with lavender insects

1. Red spider

Red spider mites are a common pest. Although their name contains the word "spider", they are actually mites. This pest will eat the leaves of lavender, causing rust spots to appear on them. The spots will wither and turn yellow, hindering the photosynthesis of the leaves and also preventing the plant from flowering. Treatment is mainly prevention-oriented. In July, spray the plants with a solution of dacarbamectin or avermectin once every 10 days. Generally, 2-3 sprayings are enough.

2. Aphids

Aphids are also one of the pests that harm lavender. They are more common in summer and autumn. Usually a large number of adult insects gather in July. They will suck the sap of the plant and affect its health. Generally, prevention and control should be carried out in mid-to-early July. Spraying once with Marathon solution can effectively eliminate pests. Appropriate fertilization on a regular basis can also improve the plant's disease resistance.

3. Leafhopper

There are many types of leafhoppers, the most common ones are the black-tailed leafhopper and the large green leafhopper. Both types are very small in size and mostly feed on plant sap, causing white spots to appear on the leaves. This pest has a strong reproductive capacity and can have 4-5 generations a year. The adult insects can be lured and killed with black light, or they can be killed by spraying cypermethrin solution.

4. Flea Beetle

The flea beetle is a pest that is good at jumping. It is widely distributed throughout the world and is less than 6 cm in size. It often occurs in spring and autumn and is harmful to many plants. If you want to eliminate this pest, you can use dichlorvos or phoxim to irrigate the roots to kill the larvae that are still hatching. For adults, spray with dichlorvos or malathion solution.
