What to do about Sedum sutchuenensis soot disease

What to do about Sedum sutchuenensis soot disease

symptom

In the early stages of sooty mold, many small black spots appear on the leaves, which are not easy to be found by people. But it will become more and more serious, with many small brown, gray, and black mold spots visible to the naked eye. The mold spots will gradually expand, making the surface of the leaves covered with black soot-like substances. Then the leaves will turn yellow, slowly wither and die.

Causes

Hot and humid environment

In the summer, the environment is hot and stuffy, the light is strong, the plants are kept indoors, the air is humid, and the ventilation is poor, which can easily breed bacteria and cause the plants to be infected with sooty disease.

Fungal infections

Pests carry fungal infections, and the secretions of aphids and scale insects can aggravate the infection and cause disease.

Disease pattern

The essential cause of sooty disease of Sedum sedum is that the fungal pathogen overwinters on fallen leaves and is spread by wind, rain, insects, etc. in the spring of the following year. The disease will be aggravated by hot and humid conditions, poor ventilation, and frequent pests.

Prevention and treatment methods

The eight treasures should be properly trimmed and placed in a well-ventilated and well-lit location to reduce humidity.

During the summer dormancy period, spray Sedum truncatum with fungicides to eliminate overwintering pathogens.

The occurrence of soot disease of Sedum multiflorum is closely related to the occurrence of diseases and insects, so finding the root cause can solve the problem in one step. Periodically spray DDT or petroleum emulsion to kill pests, but the concentration of the agent must be low, otherwise your succulents will not die before they are killed by you, the foolish owner!
