Like other diseases, it will overwinter on diseased remains, and when the temperature is suitable in the second year, conidia will be produced, spreading through wind and rain to continue infecting. July and August are the peak periods for the disease, and it is most serious when the temperature is high and there is a lot of rain.

In some cases, only 1 to 2 branches become diseased. Those with severe disease cannot bear fruit.
