Diseases and Pests of Jade Bell and Their Control

Diseases of Jade Bell

The more common diseases of jade bell are stem rot and brown spot.

Of these two diseases, stem rot can cause the stems of the jade bell to rot, making the stems brittle and easily broken, and in severe cases, the jade bell plant will die.

Brown spot disease will cause small brown spots to appear on the leaves of the jade bell, affecting the appearance of the jade bell. Brown spot disease is caused by fungi. The disease starts on the lower leaves and gradually spreads to the upper leaves. If the brown spot disease is too serious, the spots may connect into pieces, causing the leaves to turn yellow and fall off, affecting flowering and causing great harm to the jade bell.

When stem rot and brown spot disease break out in the jade bell, you can spray 600 times diluted 65% Zineb wettable powder for treatment.

Pests of Jade Bell

Common pests of jade bell include scale insects and whiteflies.

Scale insects are one of the more common plant pests. Scale insects often gather on the branches and leaves of plants, sucking plant sap. When the infestation is serious, it can cause the branches to wilt or the entire plant to die. Moreover, scale insects are a relatively difficult pest to treat and are very troublesome.

Whitefly is also a common pest of jade bells. Whiteflies mainly gather on plants and suck the sap from them. Green, yellow and white spots appear on the leaves. As the infestation worsens, the spots expand into patches, and then the entire leaf turns pale and falls off early. It affects the appearance of the jade bell and in serious cases may endanger the health of the plant.

When scale insects and whiteflies break out on the jade bell, you can spray them with 1000 times diluted 40% oxydemeton-methyl emulsifiable concentrate. Pay attention to choosing the time to spray, as it is generally easier to kill them in the larval stage.
