Disease control of sugar beet

Disease control of sugar beet

1. Damping-off disease.

The disease manifests itself in rotting and death before germination, as well as blackening and even death of new shoots.

The cause of this disease is mainly related to soil. Low soil temperature, excessive moisture, uneven soil texture and easy clumping when growing beets can all induce this disease.

Therefore, the prevention method is very clear. Choosing suitable soil and sterilizing it are the key to controlling the chance of disease. The most effective preventive measures are to sterilize the seeds before planting and loosen the soil promptly after planting.

2. Brown spot disease.

Symptoms are brown, circular spots on the leaves that grow larger.

Weather conditions and the resistance of the beet plant itself are key to controlling this disease. Warm weather and high humidity make it very easy for beets to be infected with brown spot disease.

Because the conditions for the onset of this disease are not determined by one factor, it is difficult to control. Before planting, choose plant seeds with strong disease resistance so that planting will be effective. This includes measures such as control of temperature and humidity, timely drug treatment, and appropriate fertilization.

3. Root rot.

This disease causes the beets to become smaller and their leaves to gradually turn yellow and eventually fall off.

The main cause of disease is harmful bacteria in the soil.

Protection methods:

1. Choose loose, fertile and well-drained soil.

2. Turn the soil regularly.

3. Use phosphorus-containing fertilizers to increase immunity.
