Disease and Pest Control of Potted Orchid

Disease and Pest Control of Potted Orchid

Sheath Rust

This pathogen mainly attacks the upper and lower surfaces of the leaves, and a small number of them may cause small blisters to appear on the stems, containing yellow powdery substances. Although the disease is not fatal, it can weaken the plant. When you encounter it, you must deal with it in a timely manner. Once discovered, first cut off the diseased leaves, and then spray them with a prepared dose of Zineb powder.

Sclerotium rolfsii

This disease often occurs in the extra season. When it first appears, the base of the leaves will be covered with white filaments, but don't underestimate it, as this disease may cause the entire rhizome to rot. The bark of infected plants will gradually change color. Once the lesions surround the stem for a week, the entire plant may die, so early prevention and control is necessary. After discovery, first remove the diseased potting soil, then make the environment ventilated and light-permeable, and pay attention to drainage. In serious cases, the entire diseased plant may have to be burned.

anthrax

This disease is basically possible all year round, especially in hot seasons, and it is more likely to occur when there is a lot of rain. The disease extends from the tip of the leaf to the rhizome, and in severe cases it can cause the death of the entire plant. First of all, when caring for it, you must actively improve its Polygonatum, and secondly, if any symptoms are found, you must spray it with edible medicine. Spraying it 3-5 times every 7-10 days will improve it.

Scale insects

This little bug is also common in other plants. If the surrounding air circulation is not good, it will be more serious. Because the high temperature and humid environment is very suitable for growth, if you encounter this insect, you can brush it off manually and then spray the corresponding pesticide for prevention and control.
