What to do if the amaryllis is stuck with an arrow

What to do if the amaryllis is stuck with an arrow

Causes of Arrow Trapping

Amaryllis has a relatively rare problem with arrows, but it often occurs when the environment is abnormal, such as:

The temperature is too high or too low: Usually the most suitable temperature for Amaryllis is around 20℃. Too high or too low temperature will affect leaf growth.

Insufficient nutrition: When Amaryllis blooms, it has a high demand for phosphorus, potassium fertilizers and trace elements. If nutrients are not replenished in time, it will affect the arrowing and flowering.

Lack of water, root rot and excessive light will all affect the growth of amaryllis arrows.

Pay attention to the following points during maintenance

Adequate lighting

After hibernation, move the plant to a place with better light for maintenance. Especially before and after flowering, get more sunlight so that the leaves can accumulate sufficient nutrients through photosynthesis, so that they have the strength to grow upwards.

Reasonable fertilization

After the seedlings grow new leaves, apply thin fertilizer frequently. To promote leaf growth, fertilize once a week, mainly with phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Dry cakes, bone meal, and composted fish liquid are good choices. Note that during this period, apply less or no nitrogen fertilizer to prevent the leaves from growing too long and affecting flowering. Stop fertilizing immediately after the flower arrow emerges to avoid premature flower and bud drop.

Keep the soil moist

During the growing period of Amaryllis, keep the soil in the pot relatively moist to ensure the plant's water needs when flowering. If the flower arrow is pinched at this time, do not deal with it immediately, let it grow. When the flower arrow is long and the flowers are large, you can set up a bracket to support it to prevent it from tilting. After the flowers fade, cut off the flower arrows from the bottom in time to avoid consuming nutrients and affecting plant growth.

After reading the above methods, amaryllis arrow clamping is no longer a problem!
