How to graft pomegranate flowers

Preparation for Pomegranate Grafting

First of all, you need to prepare the knife. The knife must be sharp. If it is not sharp, it will not only affect the operation, but also reduce the speed. If it is not sharp, the incision will not be smooth, which will reduce the contact area between the scion and the rootstock and cause wound necrosis.

In addition, prepare benches and plastic film strips.

Secondly, prepare the rootstock.

Pomegranate grafting time

The best time for grafting is from mid- March to mid- April , when the survival rate is higher.

How to graft pomegranate

First, use a knife to smooth the cross section of the rootstock, and then use a cleaving knife to split the rootstock vertically, with a depth of 4cm~5cm , which is the same length as or slightly longer than the scion surface.

When grafting, cut both sides of the lower bud into a smooth surface, and the outside of the scion should be slightly thicker than the inside. Keep 2 to 4 nodes on each scion.

Insert the scion so that the cambium of the scion and the rootstock are aligned when inserting. One can directly insert 1~2 scion, if the rootstock is thicker, you can also insert 3~4 .

After grafting, tie the grafted joint with a plastic bag until the interface between the scion and the rootstock is tightly tied.

Look at the grafted pomegranate, it can also bloom and bear fruit.
