Large-scale drying up and leaf loss: how to save dying plants

Large-scale drying up and leaf loss: how to save dying plants

1. Lack of water

Symptoms: Leaves change color, turn yellow, dry up, and fall off; the soil in the pot becomes dry and water is lost.

Solution

1. Move the plant to a cool and ventilated place

2. Use a watering can to spray water on the leaves to make them fully moist

3. Water the roots of the plants in small amounts, and do not water them thoroughly at once, as this will hinder the plants from absorbing water.

Wait for the soil to absorb it, and water it every half an hour or so until excess water flows out of the outlet of the flowerpot.

4. Move to a cool and ventilated place for 5-7 days, and then move to a sunny place for maintenance after the plant recovers its vitality.

2. Root rot

Symptoms: The soil in the pot turns white, the roots turn black and soft, the leaves become dull and yellow, and fall off in large pieces.

Solution

1. Cut off the rotten roots and disinfect them with carbendazim.

2. Place in a cool and ventilated place to dry.

3. Change the potting soil to one with good air permeability and water it thoroughly.

4. Place in a cool and ventilated place.

Frost damage

Symptoms: Leaves shrink or develop brown spots, turn yellow, dry up, or fall off in large pieces.

Solution

1. Move the flowers to a warm, wind-proof, sunny place with a temperature of 5 degrees Celsius.

2. Cut off the frozen part

3. Water the roots of the plants in small amounts, and do not water them thoroughly at once, as this will hinder the plants from absorbing water. Because the plants may be frostbitten, pay attention to the water temperature when watering and use water above 5 degrees. Wait for the soil to absorb it, and water it every half an hour or so until excess water flows out of the outlet of the flowerpot.

Pests and diseases

Symptoms: The color of the leaves and mosaics is uneven, the leaves are mottled or large areas of the leaves turn yellow and fall off, and the root tissue rots.

Solution

1. Prune and remove the parts with diseases and insect pests.

2. After pruning, you can spray 1% Bordeaux mixture for prevention and control, spray once every 7 days, and spray 4 to 5 times in total during the whole growth period.

3. Change the soil in the flower pots, disinfect the previously used flower pots, and remove the weeds.

4. Water the roots of the plants in small amounts, and do not water them thoroughly at once, as this will hinder the plants from absorbing water. Wait for the soil to absorb it, and water it every half an hour or so until excess water flows out of the outlet of the flowerpot.

5. Improve indoor ventilation and move to a cool place
