What to do if the orchid doesn't like to grow

What to do if the orchid doesn't like to grow

1. Temperature

This is a flower that prefers warm climates and was first grown in southern China. Although it likes warmth, it can also tolerate certain degrees of cold. It is most suitable for growing at 10 to 25 degrees. It is basically unwilling to grow below 7 degrees or above 25 degrees. So think about it, is the place where you keep it too cold or too hot? Depending on the actual situation, we should move it to a place with suitable temperature.

2. Lighting

If this plant is placed in the shade and basically receives no light, it is not a big problem and it will still be very green. However, as a plant, it needs sunlight after all. Although our orchid is relatively shade-tolerant, long-term lack of light will still affect its growth. Without the means to obtain energy, natural growth becomes slow. If your plant is not growing very much, you might want to give it a little more sunlight every day.

3. Division management

Is the reason your plant isn't growing much because it has just been divided? The branches that have just been divided have their root systems severely damaged, so most of the nutrients and energy are used to grow roots, so it looks like they are not growing at all! This root growth stage will last about three to four weeks. During this period, no fertilizer is needed. Just water the plant thoroughly once when potting it. You don't need to water it much in the next three or four weeks. After three or four weeks you should see your plants begin to show visible signs of growth.

4. Diseases

Sick plants will definitely not grow well. The following are common diseases.

1. Anthracnose: Grayish-white spots appear on the leaves, the edges turn brown, and there may also be spots on the stems. When we find that something is infected, we should cut off the diseased leaves in time and use disinfectants.

2. Gray mold: Gray spots first appear on the leaves. The disease develops quickly when the humidity is high, and the leaves are soon covered with mold. In this case, move the plant to a less humid place, spray it with pesticides and disinfect it, and ensure smooth ventilation.
