What is the matter with the black spots on the leaves of Monstera? What should I do if there are black spots?

What is the matter with the black spots on the leaves of Monstera? What should I do if there are black spots?

1. Strong light

Monstera is suitable for growing in a semi-shady environment. If it is exposed to direct sunlight for a long time, the leaves will easily be burned, causing black spots to appear. In this case, the plant needs to be placed in a cool place in time to avoid further exposure to the sun. At the same time, spray water appropriately and maintain good ventilation so that recovery can be carried out as soon as possible.

2. The temperature is too low

Monstera is native to tropical regions and has a weak ability to adapt to low temperatures. It will stop growing when the temperature drops below 15℃ and will be frostbitten when the temperature drops below 0℃. If the black spots on the leaves are caused by frostbite, you need to place the plant in a warm place indoors, or put a bag on the top to keep it warm to prevent further freezing.

3. Insufficient nutrients

Monstera deliciosa cannot do without sufficient nutrients during its growth process. If it is not fertilized, the plant will grow poorly and may be susceptible to diseases and pests, and black spots will appear on the leaves. In daily maintenance, you must pay attention to fertilization, which should be applied once every 15-20 days. Use decomposed cake fertilizer water and spray potassium dihydrogen phosphate on the leaves.

4. Well-developed root system

For Monstera, a well-developed root system is the key to the good growth of the plant, but if the roots are entangled with each other, it will also affect its growth. At this time, you need to take the plant out of the pot, check the condition of the roots, cut off the excess roots with scissors, wait until the wound is dry, and then replant it in the pot.
