1. Spray foliar fertilizer

The method of spraying foliar fertilizer is suitable for situations where the freezing is not serious: in winter, the leaves may curl or turn yellow due to wind, cold dew or morning frost. At this time, you can use a special antifreeze and an appropriate amount of urea to mix and spray it on the leaf surface. The concentration of fertilizer and the number of spraying times can be referred to the fertilizer instructions. It is better to have a lower concentration than a higher one.

If you prune drastically after a slight frost, it may cause secondary damage. You can wait until new buds sprout in the spring of the following year to prune.

2. Root protection

Sudden low temperatures or continuous frost in winter can cause the leaves to suffer from severe water shortage and be unable to recover immediately. At this time, it is necessary to protect its root system. First of all, you should water it plenty of times to loosen the soil, but there should be no water accumulation in the pot; if it is planted outdoors, cover the top layer of the soil with straw, the thicker the better.

After that, cut off all the dead branches and leaves. If the main trunk is also short of water, it should also be cut off. Finally, ensure the supply of water to the roots so that the root system is no longer in a state of water shortage. New buds will slowly emerge in the spring of the following year.
