How to save gardenia from yellow leaves

How to save gardenia from yellow leaves

1. Increase watering

1. Reason: Gardenia has relatively high requirements for soil and air humidity. If its requirements are not met, yellow leaves will appear.

2. Solution: Observe its condition more often. Water it when the soil is dry. However, it is not suitable to water too much at one time. Too much water will cause water accumulation in the pot, and its roots will rot. Generally, the pot should be watered once every two days or so, and the branches and leaves should be sprayed with water in the morning and evening. In autumn and winter, you can reduce the frequency and amount of watering appropriately, and once a month is enough.

2. Adjust the soil quality

1. Reason: It is an acidic plant, so it needs acidic soil. If the soil is alkaline, it cannot meet its growth needs.

2. Solution: Measure the pH value of the soil more often. If the soil becomes alkaline, you can mix some leaf mold into the soil, which can turn the alkaline soil into acidic soil.

3. Increase Lighting

1. Reason: Gardenia is a sun-loving plant. Insufficient sunlight will affect its growth, so it is not surprising that yellow leaves appear.

2. Solution: Make sure it has 8 hours of light every day, but because it cannot be exposed to strong light, it needs appropriate shade when the sun is strong at noon, and no treatment is required at other times.

4. Increase fertilization

1. Reason: Gardenia likes fertilizer, and insufficient fertilizer will affect its health.

2. Solution: Normally, it is sufficient to fertilize once or twice a month, but during the growing and flowering periods, it is best to fertilize once a week. When fertilizing, apply more frequently but in smaller amounts. It is similar to “eating small and frequent meals” when we eat.
