What to do if the leaves of the big leaf arborvitae turn black

What to do if the leaves of the big leaf arborvitae turn black

1. Reduce watering

Reason: It needs a certain amount of water during its growth, but you must pay attention to the amount of water. If too much water is given, water will accumulate, causing problems with root breathing. The roots will find it difficult to transport water and fertilizer normally in such an environment, and the leaves will also be affected, showing signs of blackening.

Solution: Pay attention to water intake and control the amount of water. If too much water is applied, place it in a well-ventilated place to promote evaporation of water. If you keep it outdoors in the summer, you need to avoid rain.

2. Reduce humidity

Reason: The humidity in the air is too high. If it is too humid, the leaves will find it difficult to adapt and will turn black.

Solution: When the air is too dry, spray water appropriately. If the humidity is too high and causes black leaves, remove the black leaves and temporarily stop watering.

3. Open windows for ventilation

Reason: If the large-leafed arborvitae is kept indoors, a long period of lack of ventilation and a stuffy environment will cause the leaves to turn black.

Solution: Keep the air circulating indoors, and open the windows more often to let in some air when the temperature is suitable.

4. Increase the temperature

Reason: The temperature is relatively low in winter. If you do not pay attention to keeping warm, the large leaves that fall to the ground may be frostbitten, causing the leaves to turn black.

Solution: Move it indoors for maintenance and raise the temperature to above 10 degrees Celsius.
