Why is the fiddle-leaf fig losing its leaves? How to save it

Why is the fiddle-leaf fig losing its leaves? How to save it

1. What causes leaves to fall?

1. Soil reasons: It is suitable for growing in a slightly acidic soil environment. When we maintain the plants, we mostly use tap water for watering. Over time, the alkalinity of the soil will increase, hindering growth and causing leaves to fall easily.

2. Lack of fertilizer: If fertilizer is not applied in time during maintenance, the soil will lack nutrients, the roots cannot absorb the necessary nutrients, and cannot provide them to the leaves. Over time, the leaves will easily fall off.

3. Infection with diseases: If the environment provided during maintenance is not suitable, it is easy to be infected with diseases, especially leaf spot disease. When infected with this disease, the leaves will fall off easily, and yellow and dead leaves will appear.

2. How to save

1. Correct watering: Use pure water when watering. If it is tap water, you have to air it out before watering. After two days of airing, some of the chlorine in the water will evaporate, which can prevent the soil from becoming alkaline.

2. Apply fertilizer in moderation: During the peak growth season, apply thin fertilizer frequently to supplement the plant with fertilizer. This can be done in small amounts and multiple times. It is best to dilute it with clean water so that the plant can absorb it more easily and promote more vigorous growth.

3. Improve the environment: If it is a mild leaf spot disease, move it to a ventilated and well-lit place, get more sunlight and ventilate it more. If the leaf spot disease is serious, all leaves should be cut off to avoid affecting other leaves.
