Production and maintenance of grape bonsai

Grape potting pile cultivation

You can use seedlings for cultivation, or you can choose old stumps for cultivation. When using seedlings for cultivation, they need to be shaped. When the seedlings have 3 or 4 leaves, they should be topped off. Then, two or three fruiting branches should be cultivated using the side shoots that sprout from the leaf buds. Then, 3-5 buds should be selected on each branch and planted in the ground. Let them quickly grow into vines before potting them. When using the old stump cultivation method, the form of cultivation should be determined based on the stump division and plant shape, and the branches should be selected and pruned to a certain extent. Then the old stump should be dug out and transplanted into a flowerpot.

Grape potting production

The best time to pot grapes is in winter, when the grapes are dormant. Remove some of the old soil from the old stump, and properly shape and prune its branches and roots. Choose the best viewing position and then plant it in a pot.

Grape pot cultivation

Short branch culture

It needs to be pruned regularly, and the tree's growth can be moderated by tying and bending it. In the process of shaping the tree, the nutrients need to be repeatedly pinched.

Binding shape

When making grape bonsai, the branches are usually tied in a horizontal or drooping posture, making them appear S-shaped or dragon-shaped. You can use metal wire for tying. Insert one end into the soil and wrap the other end around the tree trunk at a 45-degree angle. Make sure it is tightly attached. You can make the grapes into different shapes according to your preference, such as slanted trunk, near water, on cliff, etc.

Grape bonsai maintenance

In summer, water the plant in time to keep the soil moist, and also spray water on the leaves frequently. In the early stage of grape growth, appropriate nitrogen fertilizer can be applied. In autumn, after the leaves of the grape bonsai fall, the pot should be repotted in time, removing about 1/3 of the old soil, and the roots should be pruned to remove dead roots, and basal fertilizer should be applied when changing the soil. For branch pruning, it can be done after the leaves fall and before the buds sprout in the spring of the second year.
