Why do Clivia leaves turn yellow, burnt and dry?

As we all know, Clivia is an easy-to-care-for flower , famous for its evergreen, upright leaves that usually do not show yellowing, wilting or scorching edges. However, if these problems occur with Clivia, it is likely that there are omissions or errors in some links of the maintenance process. Let’s take a closer look at why the leaves of Clivia turn yellow, burnt and dry.

Reason 1: Excessive drought

Clivia prefers a cool and humid environment. If the soil in the pot is too dry or has not been watered for a long time, the leaves will dry out and turn yellow. As a fleshy rhizome plant, Clivia's water demand should be balanced with the soil moisture content. Watering should be moderate to keep the soil slightly moist and breathable.

Reason 2: Direct sunlight

Clivia should not be exposed to strong sunlight for a long time to avoid sunburn of the leaves, yellowing and burnt edges. You should choose an environment with sufficient diffuse light and avoid direct midday sunlight.

Reason 3: Overfertilization

When applying fertilizer, the principle of "applying small amounts of fertilizer frequently" should be adopted to promote the absorption of nutrients by the roots of Clivia. Excessive fertilization may cause fertilizer damage, such as root burn and yellowing of leaves. If you find that you have over-fertilized, you should immediately rinse the potted plants with plenty of clean water to dilute the excess fertilizer , and place the plants in a ventilated and cool place to recover.

In general, the main reasons for the yellowing and burnt edges of Clivia leaves are usually related to drought, strong light and improper fertilization. These problems can be effectively avoided through proper maintenance measures.
