How to grow banyan trees hydroponically

Prepare the Materials

First, go to the flower market and buy a small banyan tree, a small-leaf banyan will do. When choosing, pay attention to making sure the trunk is straight, the branches are evenly distributed, the leaves are elegant and green, and there are no dry tips.

Find a cylindrical glass basin with a diameter of about 10 cm and a height of 3 cm, wash it and set aside.

Find a large Coke bottle and cut off the mouth of the bottle to use as a planting rack to keep it stable.

Wash the plants

After buying the small-leaf banyan tree, break the flowerpot. Don't be reluctant to do so, as this can avoid damaging the roots. Gently shake off the soil on the roots, rinse the roots under clean water, and cut off the rotten parts to achieve a neat and clean banyan tree.

Of course, after rinsing, you can also soak it in clean water for a while to completely remove the dirt from the roots.

root

Control the temperature above 25℃ for about 2 weeks. During this period, place the hydroponic banyan tree in a cool and ventilated place and change the water every day. When many white roots grow from the original roots, these are aquatic roots, and your hydroponics has taken the first step towards success.

After the roots have taken root, there is no need to change the water every day. Just check the water level in the glass bottle frequently to make sure that the water level covers two-thirds of the root system. In addition, you can use a large Coke bottle to fill with water, leave it for half a day before use, so that the tap water can be fully aerated and the chlorine in it can be reduced.

Fertilization and watering

The pot for hydroponic banyan bonsai is shallow, so water must be added frequently, and of course nutrients are also essential. April to October is the growing season of banyan trees. Add about 30 grams of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer into the flowerpot every month. Professional nutrient solution is also fine. Spray potassium dihydrogen phosphate liquid fertilizer on the leaves once every half a month.
