Can the fortune tree be propagated by cuttings and hydroponics?

1. Is it possible?

The money tree can be grown by cuttings and hydroponically. The hydroponic method is simple to operate and easy to maintain. There is no need to worry about watering for hydroponics. If too much water is poured, just pour it out appropriately. It does not require repotting like soil cultivation, so the growth of the plant roots can be seen at any time.

However, the growth rate of soil culture is faster than that of hydroponics, and the plants grown in soil have stronger resistance. If you are not very professional in daily maintenance, you can use the hydroponic method.

2. Hydroponic Method

1. Select branches: For hydroponics, choose healthy branches, cut off the leaves at the bottom, and leave 2-4 leaves on the top. The cut at the bottom should be flat, preferably at a 45° angle, which can appropriately increase the contact area with water and is also beneficial for its rooting.

2. Preparation for cuttings: To help it take root, apply some rooting powder on the cut or soak it directly in rooting water. Add 1/3 of water to the prepared hydroponic container, and finally put the branches in. Do not let the leaves get wet to avoid rotting.

3. Water culture and care: When there is no rooting, the water should be changed every 3 days. After rooting, there is no need to change the water frequently, but you can add water frequently. When the temperature is high, you need to spray water on the leaves appropriately. When it grows up, you need to change the pot in time, change the water every half a month, and give it some nutrient solution every month.
