What does Kalanchoe look like? Is it acidic or alkaline?

1. Morphological characteristics

1. Stems and leaves: Kalanchoe is a small herbaceous plant that generally grows 10-30cm in height with an upright stem. The leaves are opposite and grow densely. They are emerald green in color, about 4-8cm long and 2-6cm wide. The leaves are oblong-spoon-shaped or elliptical, with serrated edges on the upper leaves and entire edges on the lower leaves. They are glossy, but the edges are slightly red.

2. Flowers: It blooms in winter and spring. The cymes are cone-shaped and dark green. Each plant has about 5-7 inflorescences, with about 60-250 flowers. The inflorescence length is 7-10cm. The flowers of Kalanchoe are relatively small, with a diameter of only 1.2-1.6cm. They are in the shape of a high-footed saucer with 4 petals. The corolla is long and tubular, slightly swollen at the base. The colors of the flowers are very bright and rich, including pink, yellow, orange, white, crimson and many other colors.

2. Is it acidic or alkaline?

Kalanchoe likes both acidity and alkalinity. It has very low requirements for the pH of the soil and can be grown in either acidic or alkaline soil. However, the soil selected must be breathable, otherwise the roots of the plant will not be able to breathe. Generally speaking, the soil used can be used to grow Kalanchoe. Do not use soil that is too shaded or has poor air permeability and drainage, otherwise the plants will grow poorly.
