Cultivation methods and precautions of Oxalis

Cultivation methods and precautions of Oxalis

1. Adequate sunlight

Oxalis itself likes light very much, so it needs to be provided with sufficient light and is usually placed in a sunny place. It should be noted that since the plant is not tolerant to strong light, it needs to be properly shaded in the summer, or placed in a semi-shaded environment to avoid leaf burns caused by exposure to the sun.

2. Fertile Soil

Oxalis has a strong adaptability to soil and can grow in many places, but if you want it to grow more luxuriantly, it must be planted in sandy loam rich in humus. If you prepare the soil yourself, you can use garden soil and a proper amount of river sand, which can provide a certain degree of drainage. At the same time, you should use organic fertilizer as base fertilizer to supplement nutrients for its growth.

3. Control watering

Oxalis prefers a humid climate, but not too wet. Therefore, you need to control the amount of water when watering it. Usually, sprinkler irrigation is used, and flooding is not allowed. Otherwise, water accumulation will easily occur, affecting the breathing of the roots. In this case, excess moisture needs to be drained out and ventilation should be done to accelerate the evaporation of moisture.

4. Disease prevention and weed control

Because Oxalis grows relatively densely, ventilation and light transmission at the bottom are often poor, so disease prevention work needs to be done. In the hot season, triadimefon should be sprayed to prevent powdery mildew. In addition, if there are weeds, they need to be removed in time to avoid competing for nutrients, which is not conducive to the development of the plants.
