Why doesn’t Anthurium bloom? 5 ways to deal with the causes

Anthurium is one of the precious flowers . It has thick and thick leaves with emerald green color. Its flowers are unique, bright and gorgeous with rich colors. Many friends grow it. However, Anthurium often does not bloom. So why does Anthurium not bloom? Below, the editor will introduce 5 ways to deal with the causes, let’s take a look.

1. Temperature discomfort

Reason: Anthurium is sensitive to temperature. Its suitable growth temperature is 20-30℃. The maximum temperature cannot be higher than 35℃ and the minimum temperature cannot be lower than 10℃. Temperatures that are too high or too low will affect its normal growth and flowering.

Treatment method: When the temperature is too high in summer, you can spray clean water around the plants to cool them down, while avoiding direct sunlight. When the temperature is too low in winter, the anthurium needs to be moved indoors for maintenance, and the indoor temperature must be kept within an appropriate range.

2. Insufficient light

Reason: Although Anthurium is a shade-tolerant plant, it also needs an appropriate amount of diffuse light for photosynthesis. If placed in a dark place without light for a long time, it will not be able to carry out normal photosynthesis, thus affecting flowering.

Treatment method: Place the anthurium in a place with diffuse light, such as a terrace or windowsill on the east and west sides. When the light is strong in summer, appropriate shade is needed to avoid burning the leaves and flowers.

3. Improper watering

Reason: The root system of Anthurium is relatively thick, and long-term moisture or excessive dryness of the potting soil is not conducive to the growth of flower stems.

Treatment method: When watering, follow the principle of "water thoroughly when the soil is dry" to avoid water accumulation. When the soil in the pot seems dry, water the Anthurium thoroughly in time, and the growing environment should be well ventilated. You can choose slightly acidic water for watering, which will help the growth of anthurium.

4. Improper fertilization

Reason: Insufficient fertilization will cause the plant to lack nutrients and will also fail to bloom. Excessive fertilization may lead to excess nutrients and affect flower bud differentiation.

Treatment method: Mainly use compound fertilizer , apply once a week in spring and autumn, and dilute the fertilizer water before watering in summer. Before flowering, fertilizers high in phosphorus and potassium should be applied to promote flower bud differentiation. When using phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, dilute them 1000 times before watering.

5. Impact of pests and diseases

Reason: Pests and diseases are also one of the important factors that cause anthurium to not bloom. Pests and diseases will affect the healthy growth of anthurium. If the disease is too serious, it will prevent it from blooming.

Treatment method: Spraying dinotefuran on the leaves once a month can effectively prevent diseases. For diseases and insect pests that have already occurred, spray pesticides in time to prevent and control them. Common diseases include root rot and anthracnose, which can be prevented and controlled by using pesticides such as furalaxyl, thiophanate-methyl, and carbofuran. Common insect pests include aphids, red spiders, etc., which can be controlled by using pesticides such as aphid-mite phosphorus, anti-aphid carb, and avermectin.

The above is an introduction to why Anthurium does not bloom. There are many reasons why Anthurium does not bloom. Breeders must find the exact cause and master the treatment method.
