Types of Paphiopedilum

Paphiopedilum has a peculiar flower shape with stripes or spots, rich colors, a long lifespan, and some species can bloom in all seasons. There are about 10 kinds of Paphiopedilum in my country, the most common ones are:

Paphiopedilum striata

The flower is single, about 10 cm in diameter, rich in colors, with a dark green-yellow base color and purple spots or patterns on it. Each flower can bloom for one month. Flowering period: spring.

Beautiful Paphiopedilum

Flowers are usually solitary, large, 13 cm in diameter. The pods are large, yellow-green, with purple-red spots or stripes, and each flower can bloom for 4 to 6 weeks. Flowering period: winter and spring.

Paphiopedilum floribundum

The flower stem is thick, arched, 60 cm long, with 4 to 6 flowers. The petals are linear, up to 10 to 12 cm long, yellow-green with purple-brown markings. Flowering period is summer.

Paphiopedilum purpurogenum

The flowers are single, large, yellow-purple with purple-brown stripes. Flowering period: winter and spring.

Paphiopedilum hongkongense

The flowers are solitary, deep purple. Flowering period: autumn and winter.

Paphiopedilum calycifolium

The flower stem is erect and 50 cm long. Flowers solitary, purple-brown. There are several black warts inside and outside the petals, the lip is deep-pocketed, and each flower can bloom for more than two months. Flowering period is from March to May.

Paphiopedilum apricotum

The flower is single and apricot yellow. The labellum is an elliptical oval pouch. Flowering period: spring.

Paphiopedilum lutea

There are 1 to 3 flowers on each flower stem. They are light yellow with purple-brown spots on the outside. The lip is an oval-shaped pocket. Each flower can bloom for 6 to 8 weeks. Flowering period is from April to June.

Paphiopedilum purpurogenum

There are 1 to 2 flowers on each flower stem, occasionally 3. The flowers are light yellow with purple or brown spots on the outside, and each flower can bloom for 4 weeks. Flowering period: spring and autumn.
